The Wood County Republican Party Calls on the Wisconsin State Legislature to Pass an Article V Application for a Congressional Term Limits Amendment

Wood County, Wisconsin – On January 22, 2022,  the Wood County Republican Party officially called on the Wisconsin State Legislature to pass an Article V application to propose a Term Limits Amendment for members of the U.S. House and Senate. The resolution passed by an overwhelming vote with Chairman Joe Humphrey presiding.

Jason Church, Wisconsin State Chair for U.S. Term Limits, said, “I am proud of Chairman Joe Humphrey and the Wood County Republican Party for passing the resolution in support of the U.S. Term Limits effort  to have the state legislatures propose a Term Limits Amendment for Congress. It’s beyond no doubt that Congress cannot restrain itself, and we need grassroots leaders like those in the Wood County Republican Party to continue fighting for the American people.”

Kenn Quinn, U.S. Term Limits’ Northern Regional Director, said, “It is time for the state legislatures to use their constitutional authority under Article V to Term Limit Congress because they will not do this to themselves.”

Article V of the Constitution of the United States specifies how amendments may be proposed; either two-thirds of both Houses of Congress or upon the application of two-thirds of the state legislatures to force Congress to call a convention for proposing an amendment. The effort is being spearheaded by the nonpartisan, grassroots nonprofit, U.S. Term Limits.

According to recent national polling, “82% of voters of all parties continue to support term limits, including 87% of Republicans, 83% of Democrats, and 78% of Independents.”
