Nikki Haley Pledges to Support U.S. Term Limits Amendment Once Elected President
Haley Makes Congressional Term Limits a Key Issue in her Presidential Campaign

Washington, DC — U.S. Term Limits (USTL), the leader in the nonpartisan national movement to limit terms for elected officials, announces that Republican Presidential candidate, former South Carolina Governor and United Nations Ambassador, Nikki Haley, has signed the U.S. Term Limits pledge as part of her presidential campaign. Ambassador Haley promises, once elected President, to support passage of the U.S. Term Limits amendment of three (3) House terms and two (2) Senate terms and no longer limit and to work to secure state ratification of the amendment to the United States Constitution. Haley is the first 2024 presidential candidate to date, of any party, to sign the pledge. Congressional term limits is a key platform issue of her presidential campaign.

The U.S. Term Limits constitutional amendment has been introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senator Ted Cruz (SJR 2) and the U.S. House by Representative Ralph Norman (HJR 11). House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has promised a vote on HJR 11 this Congress.

“Our Founding Fathers did not want people to make careers out of government,” said Nikki Haley. “Yet our current D.C. politicians have made a lucrative career of long-term service with some members of Congress serving most of their life in Congress. The result of this dysfunction speaks for itself. We must and can do better and that is why I will support passage of the U.S. Term Limits amendment when I am in the White House.”

“We are pleased that Ambassador Haley has signed the U.S. Term Limits presidential pledge,” said Philip Blumel, “We have seen a dramatic increase in supporters wanting term limits on Congress. Americans, regardless of political affiliation, overwhelmingly support this critical election reform. Recent polling shows 82% of Americans are proponents of term limits for Congress. These advocates have rejected the career politician model and want to replace it with citizen leadership. The way to achieve this goal is through congressional term limits.”

The term limits amendment resolutions would require a two-thirds majority in both the U.S. House and Senate and ratification by 38 states in order to become part of the U.S. Constitution.
