Jim Olivi Joins U.S. Term Limits as Arizona State Director

Phoenix, AZ – U.S. Term Limits, the largest grassroots advocacy organization in the country, is pleased to announce that Jim Olivi of Scottsdale has accepted the position of Arizona State Director.

Mr. Olivi has been a computer programmer and networking engineer most of his career. He holds a Masters degree from DePaul University, Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois. He will be managing operations to get the U.S. Term Limits Article V convention application passed through the Arizona legislature. To that end, his responsibilities involve organizing the grassroots and meeting with state legislators to support the resolution.

“I’ve seen entrenched career politicians abuse their power and use their office to fleece the public,” says Olivi. He continues, “I joined US Term Limits because corrupt politicians will not reform themselves. As Arizona director, I can help bring our state to the table at an Article V convention which is the best way to propose a term limits amendment.”

U.S. Term Limits has been active in Arizona passing a term limits resolution in the Arizona House two years in a row. Unfortunately, this past session, the resolution made it through all the Senate committee stops but never made it to the Senate floor.

Twenty-four state legislators have signed the U.S. Term Limits Article V pledge. They are: Alma Hernandez H03, Leo Biasiucci H05, Walter Blackman H06, Robert Thorpe H06, David Cook H08, Mark Finchem H11, Travis Grantham H12, Warren Petersen H12, Gail Griffin H14, Kelly Townsend H16, Jeff Weniger H17, Shawnna Bolick H20, Kevin Payne H21, Ben Toma H22, Diego Rodriguez H27, Robert Meza H30, Karen Fann S01, Andrea Dalessandro S03, Sonny Borelli S05, Jamescita Peshlakai S07, Nancy Barto S15, Sean Bowie S18, Paul Boyer S20, and David Livingston S22.

Five Congress members have signed the U.S. Term Limits congressional pledge. These include: U.S. Sen. Martha McSally and U.S. Reps. Ann Kirkpatrick, Andy Biggs, David Schweikert, and Debbie Lesko.

According to a 2018 nationwide poll on term limits conducted by McLaughlin & Associates, term limits enjoy wide bipartisan support. McLaughlin’s analysis states, “Support for term limits is broad and strong across all political, geographic and demographic groups. An overwhelming 82% of voters approve of a constitutional amendment that will place term limits on members of Congress.”

The term limits amendment resolutions would require a two-thirds majority in the House and Senate or two-thirds of the states to apply for the amendment proposal convention. Either way, 38 states are required to ratify the term limits proposal in order to become part of the U.S. Constitution.

Congressional term limits is the one bipartisan issue supported by both President Trump and former President Obama.
