U.S. Term Limits Thanks Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez for
Cosponsoring Term Limits Resolution with Billboard in Washington State District
Washougal, WA – U.S. Term Limits (U.S.T.L) is thanking U.S. Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez for cosponsoring House Joint Resolution 11 (HJR11), commonly referred to as the U.S. Term Limits amendment. For her steadfast commitment, the nonpartisan, nonprofit is sponsoring a billboard LOCATED AT 15th ST EL 130′ N/O HEMLOCK in her congressional district. The amendment proposal she supports would set congressional term limits at 6 years total in the U.S. House of Representatives and 12 years maximum in the U.S. Senate.
“We want to thank Representative Gluesenkamp Perez on cosponsoring House Joint Resolution 11 for congressional term limits,” said Nick Tomboulides, Executive Director of U.S. Term Limits. “Congressional term limits is not a Democratic or Republican issue; it is an American issue with strong support among voters of all political affiliations.”
HJR11 was introduced by Representative Ralph Norman (SC) at the start of the 118th Congress. It has bipartisan support with Representative Gluesenkamp Perez becoming the 86th cosponsor. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has promised a floor vote on the resolution this Congress. A companion bill, Senate Joint Resolution 2 (SJR2) was introduced in the United States Senate and has 15 co-sponsors.
If passed by Congress and ratified by three fourth of the states, the term limits on Congress amendment would be codified into the U.S. Constitution.
Polling shows support for congressional term limits exceeds 80% nationally. This support is distributed equally among Democrats, independents, and Republicans.
