Does Alaska Have Term Limits on Their Governor?

Yes- Alaska has a consecutive term limit of two four year terms. In fact, current Governor Mike Dunleavy (as of 4/14/25), will have served two terms by the next gubernatorial election (11/3/26), so he will be ineligible to run for reelection.

Does Alabama Have Term Limits on Their Governor?

Yes- Alabama has a consecutive term limit of two four year terms. In fact, current Governor Kay Ivey (as of 4/14/25), will have served two terms by the next gubernatorial election (11/3/26), so she will be ineligible to run for reelection.

Does Wisconsin Have Term Limits on Their Governor?

Tony Evers is the current governor of Wisconsin, a role that currently does not have term limits in that state— allowing for indefinite service. As of 4/11/25, Evers has served six years since his first term in 2019.

Does Washington Have Term Limits on Their Governor?

Bob Ferguson is the current governor of Washington, a role that currently does not have term limits in that state— allowing for indefinite service. As of 4/11/25, Ferguson has served three months since his first term in 2025.

Does Vermont Have Term Limits on Their Governor?

Phil Scott is the current governor of Vermont, a role that currently does not have term limits in that state— allowing for indefinite service. As of 4/11/25, Scott has served eight years since his first term in 2017.

Does Utah Have Term Limits on Their Governor?

Spencer Cox is the current governor of Utah, a role that currently does not have term limits in that state— allowing for indefinite service. As of 4/11/25, Cox has served four years since his first term in 2021.

Does Texas Have Term Limits on Their Governor?

Greg Abbott is the current governor of Texas, a role that currently does not have term limits in that state— allowing for indefinite service. As of 4/11/25, Abbott has served ten years since his first term in 2015.

Does North Dakota Have Term Limits on Their Governor?

Kelly Armstrong is the current governor of North Dakota, a role with a lifetime maximum of two terms, or eight years of service. As of 4/11/25, Armstrong has served four months since his first term began in 2024.

Does Michigan Have Term Limits on Their Governor?

Yes- Michigan has a lifetime term limit of two four year terms. Given that current Governor Gretchen Whitmer (as of 4/14/25), will have served two terms by the next gubernatorial election (11/3/26), she will be ineligible to run for reelection.

Does Florida Have Term Limits on Their Governor?

Yes- Florida has a term limit of two consecutive four year terms. In fact, current Governor Ron DeSantis (as of 4/14/25), will have served two terms by the next gubernatorial election (11/3/26), so he will be ineligible to run for reelection.
