Breaking News on Term Limits: Oklahoma State House Passes Term Limits on Congress Resolution

March 21, 2023

We have breaking news on term limits. The Oklahoma state house just passed our resolution for term limits on Congress.
Hi, I’m Stacey Selleck, Digital Director of US Term Limits filling in for Holly Robichaud who is out on assignment today.

We have exciting news for you! The Oklahoma house of representatives just passed our term limits on Congress resolution by a vote of 59-34. The Oklahoma state house agrees it’s time for the states to step up to the plate and propose a term limits amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

We want to thank Representative Jonathan Echols and coauthors Representative(s): Lawson, Hardin, Boles, Lepak, Maynard, Chad Caldwell, Kevin West , Crosswhite Hader, Dollens, Dobrinski, George, Stinson, Williams, Humphrey, Rick West, Martinez, Boatman and sims. And the rest of the 59 representatives who stood with us to approve this resolution.

According to a recent poll conducted by RMG Research, 73% of likely voters in Oklahoma support term limits on Congress, with broad support across party lines – 80% of Republicans, 81% of Democrats, and 62% of independents.

Next stop, it moves to the senate where it will be shepherded by Senator Bergstrom.

Great job everyone who participated including our supporters in Oklahoma, our Regional Director Ken Clark and the Oklahoma state director Chris Keener.

Through your dedication, we can make Oklahoma the next state to put Congress on notice demanding term limits on Congress.
