Poll: Seventy-Six Percent Of Voters in California 16th District Support Congressional Term Limits
58% Support Congressional Term Limits of Three Terms

Washington, DC – A new poll conducted by RMG Research of voters in California’s 16th Congressional District showed that 76% of those polled support congressional term limits.  The poll conducted January 3-4, 2024, echoes polls in other states showing overwhelming support for congressional term limits.

California’s 16th Congressional District is fielding a large field of candidates for the seat which is now open for the first time since 1992.  The poll showed Sam Liccardo leading the field with 13% support.  Forty-six percent of respondents were undecided.

When respondents were informed that candidate Evan Low was the only candidate in the field to support congressional term limits, his support surges from 11% to 26%.  Liccardo’s support plummets to 9%.  This is a trend seen in other races around the nation, voters are more likely to support a candidate who supports congressional term limits when they are informed of that support.

The poll also showed that 58% of respondents favor limiting congressional terms to three terms (6) years.

Support for congressional term limits was broad-based along all demographics.
