New TX-23 Poll: Likely Republican Primary Voters Overwhelmingly Support Term Limits on Congress.

Washington, DC – According to a new poll conducted by RMG Research, an overwhelming 93% of the likely Republican Primary voters approve of an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that will place term limits on U.S. Senators and U.S. House Representatives.

The poll, which was conducted from November 28-December 1 also finds that Rep. Tony Gonzales currently leads the field with 33% of the vote. 49% of Republican Party voters indicated they were undecided. However, when voters were asked who they would support if they knew Rep. Gonzales broke his term limits pledge Brandon Herrera backs congressional term limits, Gonzales drops from 33% to 20% and Herrera leaps from 5% to 19%. This puts Gonzales and Herrera in a statistical tie considering the margin of error. This means term limits plays an important role in the decision-making process.

When asked how many terms members of the U.S. House should serve, 63% indicate they favor term limits of six years or less.

The survey of 300 registered voters in Texas’ 23rd congressional district was conducted online by RMG Research, Inc. in November 2023 using a representative sample to reflect the district’s population of registered likely Republican Party primary election voters. It has a margin of error of +/- 4.8 percentage points. RMG Research is owned and operated by Scott Rasmussen.
