Valencia, CA/June 6, 2022 –Term Limits Action is calling out Representative Mike Garcia for refusing to sign the U.S. Term Limits pledge with billboards in California’s 25th Congressional District. The U.S. Term Limits pledge says that a candidate for Congress will co-sponsor and vote for the U.S. Term Limits Amendment of three (3) House terms and two (2) Senate terms and no longer limits. The billboards are designed to educate voters that Garcia refuses to sign this pledge. Polling shows more than 80% of Americans, regardless of political affiliation, support term limits for Congress.

The pledge reads, “I pledge, that as a member of Congress, I will cosponsor and vote for the U.S. Term Limits amendment of three (3) house terms and two (2) senate terms and no longer limit.”

The U.S. Term Limits amendment has been introduced in Congress calling for six years total in the U.S. House of Representatives and twelve years maximum in the U.S. Senate. House Joint Resolution 12 (HJR12) has 81 House members on board. Support is expected to exceed 100 congressional cosponsors during the 117th Congress. Senate Joint Resolution 3 (SJR3) has 16 sponsors and co-sponsors.

“Voters regardless of political affiliation support term limits for Congress,” said Bob Costello, Treasurer of Term Limits Action. “Yet Mike Garcia refuses to sign the term limits pledge and support term limits for Congress. The billboards are designed to educate voters on Garcia’s refusal to do so.”
